Being the Older Brother in Luke 15 – Move United

My latest blog entry for Move United, our church when we lived in Columbus.

Of all the parables of Jesus, the one with the most impact on my life is commonly known as “The Prodigal Son” (Luke 15:1-2, 11-32). Despite this traditional title, it has three important characters: the father, the older brother, and the (prodigal) younger brother. At different moments in life, I identify with each of the brothers. This is distressing when I realize I harbor the attitude of the older brother.
